Job Description:
We are seeking compassionate and reliable PCA (Personal Care Assistant) or MA (Medical Assistant) to join our team on a PRN (as-needed) basis. In this role, you will assist with daily living activities, provide basic patient care, conduct various home tests, and assist with specimen collection, including drawing blood. You will be required to travel to patient locations throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties, so a valid driver's license and reliable transportation are essential. This is a flexible, on-demand position that allows you to make a direct impact on patient care in the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personal care services, including assisting with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Assist patients with basic medical tasks like taking vital signs, administering medications, and providing comfort measures
- Collect specimens, including blood draws, for testing and diagnostic purposes
- Conduct home tests and patient assessments as needed
- Ensure the delivery of compassionate, patient-centered care
- Travel to patient locations across Nassau and Suffolk counties
- Maintain accurate records and reports of services provided
- Work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care
Requirements:
- For PCA: Certification as a Personal Care Assistant or equivalent experience in patient care
- For MA: Medical Assistant certification, with experience in basic clinical tasks including taking vital signs, drawing blood, and specimen collection
- Phlebotomy certification or experience in blood draws (for both PCA and MA applicants)
- Valid NY State Driver's License
- Reliable vehicle and ability to travel locally
- Ability to work independently and manage patient care in home settings
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to patient care
